SSFIV Pre-Order Bonuses Revealed

The Pre-Order Bonuses have been officially revealed from Capcom as of late last night. They vary in regards to where you actually pre-order the game at so i've gone ahead and separated them out in list form for you all. Pictures for the costume pack are at the bottom of the post.

Special Incentives are as follows:
  • A pre-order from Gamestop will net you a pack of "Super Thumb Fighters." Yup, thumb fighters. Don't jump the gun all at once! The packs are randomly distributed, and feature Ryu/Ken, Zangief/El Fuerte, Juri/Chun-Li, and Deejay/Blanka. The boxes also come with instructions on the back to re-enact your favorite Street Fighter fights. Yay!
  • If you pre-order from Amazon (360/PS3) or Best Buy, you'll get the "Super Classic Costume" pack DLC for free. This pack features the new alternate costumes for Dhalsim, Guile, Blanka, Gen, and Fei Long. According to the Capcom Unity Twitter, the DLC costume pack will be a timed exclusive. Could have seen that one coming.

A Return Trip to EDN III - LP2 Update

Lost Planet 2 might just be my most anticipated game of 2010. No wait, check that...Super Street Fighter IV is. No wait. AHH! I think my head is about to explode! Lets just leave it at 2010 will see the release of "two" extremely high profile games that just so happen to be my most anticipated. There, that was better. Seeing as though we have primarily been all about SSFIV as of late I figured it was time to share the limelight and showcase Lost Planet 2.
-----------------------------------------------------
Short Overview Courtesy of Wikipedia:
-----------------------------------------------------
Lost Planet 2
is an upcoming third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. The game is the sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition which is also made by Capcom, taking place ten years after the events of the first game, on the same fictional planet. The game is being developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. Originally set to be released in early 2010, Capcom delayed the game to May 18, 2010 in North America and Europe and May 20, 2010 for Japan.
--------------------------------------
With the recent news Capcom dropped on us of Dom and Marcus Phoenix from the Gears of War series making an appearance in LP2 (and offering them as playable characters) the hype-o-meter has officially gone off the rector-scale. Offering more of an "arcade style" experience, LP2 looks to dish out a clean helping of fan-service as well as newly implemented features such as a more robust online multiplayer experience, new weaponry and even more Mech's for you to ride around in.

Recently, the good people over at Gamespot did a great overview of LP2. I figured I would re-post it here on Warp. Enjoy!

New SSFIV Ibuki Stills

Ibuki In Action Screen Shots: Courtesy of Famitsu

Late to the Party: Afterburner Climax Edition

OK, so I know I am a little late to the dinner table on this one but I have a valid reason. When someone tells you that a new After Burner game is hitting Xbox Live Arcade you tend to say, "Chaa Right." Surfer accent aside, it looks as if all the rumor mongers were right; Enter: After Burner Climax. Though the name of the game sounds like a bad V.D., Climax actually looks quite promising with newly updated HD graphics, over 20 stages and three different fighter jets to choose from (the F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, and FA-18 Hornet to be exact - all with customizable paint jobs).

Having actually come out in Arcades in 2006, After Burner Climax is finally making its' way to XBLA and the PSN Network; albeit 4 years after the initial release. Set for release in Spring of this year, Climax drops players into furious dog fights spanning different regions of the world. The player picks the course of each game game "on-the-fly," choosing which path to take at the end of missions. Depending on those selections and player performance the game will unfold differently (i.e. different endings).

Coming form developer AM-2 Studios (a sub developer of Sega) the game isn't without merit. these are the same guys who crafted such classics as Out Run, Hang-On, Virtua Cop, and even the original Space Harrier. In a nut-shell, this game looks gorgeous and plays just as good as its original arcade counterpart (yes, this title was originally an arcade cabinet).

Cost is yet to be determined but I would suspect this is going to run us 1200 Microsoft points. For me, this is a definite buy seeing as though I've probably dropped (in my youth) Fifty bucks or more into Afterburner Arcade Cabinets around New England. Damn, I miss arcades.

Don't believe me? Take a glance at these stills:

...and how about some footage?

Nuff Said.

Though there still hasn't been an official release date for the US, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift has gotten a solid ship date for Japan - July 1st of this year! • BlazBlue: Continuum Shift will be released in Japan for the Playstation 3/Xbox 360

As of yesterday (late last night) brand spanking new scans of newly added characters to Super Street Fighter IV have emerged via Famitsu magazine. Big ups to Dridion; a fellow member of iPlayWinner for the Famitsu scan!

New Ultras Showcased for: Adon, Cody & Guy

Below are brand spanking new videos showcasing Cody, Adon and Guys 2nd Ultra's. My favorite thus far is Guys but Adon's is slowly growing on me. Expect another post today in regards to Super Street Fighter IV - Capcom just released another Dev. Diary/Blog Post with translation.
  • Adon's Ult. 2 Looks Insane
  • I think Guy will become Top Tier (due to his mix-ups)
  • Cody is still looking a little too slow for me

Shoot 'em up games (also known as shmups) is a sub-genre of shooter video games (i.e. Life Force, 1942, R-Type and the king: Ikaruga). The genre itself has a cult following of rabid fans always looking for their next "bullet-hell" game - another term used for the relentlessly hard genre. Having bought many "shmups" over the years (Ikaruga being my Favorite) I have to say 'DeathSmiles;' a not-so-new shoot em up developed by Cave has officially caught my eye. Having been released in 2007 over in Japan, rumors of this game hitting the XBox Arcade Service have been running rampant. Well, have no fear you Shmup loving fans out there, DeathSmiles is coming stateside this year ... sometime.

Breaking: New Samurai Shodown Info Hits

Brand New Press Release From XSEED Games:

XSEED Games announced today that it has secured the North American publishing rights to SAMURAI SHODOWN SEN. In a strategic move to further build its profile as a proven independent-minded game publisher across multiple platforms, XSEED Games has partnered with SNK PLAYMORE to release the next installment of the popular arcade fighting game series. Formerly known as SAMURAI SHODOWN: Edge of Destiny, SAMURAI SHODOWN SEN is the latest iteration of the legendary weapons-based fighting series developed by SNK PLAYMORE. The game is in its final production phase and is scheduled for release this spring exclusively for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

"We are ecstatic to have our first offering on Xbox 360 be the latest iteration of such a highly-regarded franchise," said Jun Iwasaki, President of XSEED Games. "The SAMURAI SHODOWN series was a pioneer in the weapons-based fighting genre when it first took arcades by storm over a decade ago, and will now be bringing that same kind of innovative spirit as the series is reborn in 3D with online play."

SAMURAI SHODOWN SEN reveals a society on the brink of collapse, as encroaching Western influences threaten to overrun the ancient, once-hidden culture of lords, serfs, and samurai. Impressive 3D visuals, huge roster of new and returning fighters, brutal finishing moves and online play and leaderboards via Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network complete the series' much anticipated rebirth on a next-gen platform.

"We are thrilled to partner with XSEED Games on SAMURAI SHODOWN as we have much respect and admiration for their approach to creatively marketing games in North America," said Soichiro Hosoya, Company President of SNK PLAYMORE CORP. "Fans of the series will no doubt enjoy this next generation offering, so we look forward to working together to deliver a truly fun arcade fighting game that continues to deliver what the series has best been known for."

The upcoming release of SAMURAI SHODOWN SEN marks the 11th game in SNK's classic Japanese weapons-based fighting series, and promises to continue the legacy of delivering innovation to the popular genre. The original SAMURAI SHODOWN is known to have been the best and most original fighting game in its day. Its successors have continued to carry the respect and enthusiasm by critics and gamers alike, for further adding new mechanics and enhancing existing ones.

Developed by SNK PLAYMORE, SAMURAI SHODOWN SEN will be available in Spring 2010 exclusively for Xbox 360.

TvC UA Level 3 Hyper Combo Showcase

I thought it might be useful for all our "newer" Tatsunoko vs. Capcom player's to check out these two newly posted video compilations showcasing level 3 hyper combo's. The first video breaks down all Capcom fighters and the second video is the Tatsunoko side.

Thus far, I am really liking TvC. The game itself has lots of room for putting together unique teams and strategy's that cater to your own style of fighting. I'm thinking that when I register for EVO 2011 (to compete in the Super Street Fighter IV nationals) that I might try and register for the Tats vs Cap tournament as well. Anyways, enjoy the compilation vids and keep practicing!

Star Craft II Holding an Open Beta?

Blizzard's very own Korean Community Manager Kicho has dropped us a little hint that the Star Craft II Beta will be open to the public...Kind of. He basically hinted at the fact that the open beta will be available for "all ans of the Franchise," not just press, media and VIP's.

Here are a few of his statements:

"We know that all of you are very curious about the development of the Beta with the release of many Starcraft 2 Beta Testing related news across various news portals,"
--
"I can definitely say that the Beta test will not just involve industry experts and other VIPs but rather will involve all fans of the franchise,"

Here's to hoping that Blizzard makes this an official "open beta" test game. The fans have demanded the release of SCII as well as Diablo III for almost four years now. To shut them out of any further development processes would just be plumb-dumb. But then again...This is Blizzard we are talking about.

Fallout: New Vegas Trailer Hits...Hard!

Two Words: Very Excited.

Here's the brand spanking new Trailer for Fallout: New Vegas!

New Bioshock 2 Teaser Trailer Aired Latenight

So this is the brand spanking new commercial released for Bioshock 2; perhaps one of the most highly anticipated games of 2010. As you may already know, Soulstealer and myself have been extremely disappointed with how 2K (developer) has gone about "hyping" the game and marketing it. In fact, hyping and marketing have almost been absent entirely. I mean, I see the Gamestop adds on a occasion but those aren't even real adds...their goofy inconsequential spoofs on the game itself.

That all changed (I guess) late last night. 2K took up the whole first commercial block of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with a 3-minute-15-second launch trailer. 2K also announced yesterday that the game will be getting a midnight release at both Gamestop and Best Buy. Here's to hoping you all go out and buy it. It's predecessor was one of the most important games created this decade. Here's the video that aired [via Joystiq.com]

Super Street Fighter IV - Alt. Costumes to be Paid DLC?

If there is one sub-forum on the official Capcom site that not only serves as one of the most entertaining facets the company utilizes but also the most intriguing it would have to be the "Ask Capcom" forum over at Capcom Unity. The question proposed this time is about the alternate costumes for Super Street Fighter 4. Wondering if you have to pay for it? Read on young Shoryuken enthusiasts!

Though it hasn't officially been announced it's looking as though we will have to purchase SSFIV Alternative Costume Packs just like in Street Fighter IV. However, if you have purchased any of the Alt. Costume Packs from SFIV, they will carry over; meaning they will be available to use in SSFIV.

Here's the progression of explanations as set forth by Seth S-Kill Killian and Christian Svensson

Question:

"There seems to be some confusion and mis-information about whether or not the 3rd set of alternates are going to be free or paid DLC.

Can this be cleared up now or has this not been decided yet?"

Christian Svensson:

"I'm sure more light will be shed in the months leading up to launch regarding how extra content will work, but we'll be pursuing a strategy similar to the original SFIV release with regard to costumes. They are options for players."

Seth Killian:

"...I bought the Borderland's DLC for "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned." It was released after the main game, and it was an actual download that took a half-hour to complete. Okay, so I spent a half-hour waiting for it after I decided to buy. Is that somehow better than an unlock? Why, exactly?

Is it because you think the Borderlands team started on the "Dr. Ned" DLC *after* the main game came out? Because they didn't. They began development long before the game was finished. Are you saying that I, as a player, should somehow care about the creation start date of the content? Because I don't. I enjoyed Borderlands and wanted to play some more. I'm not sure why I should be interested in when the Borderlands team started working on it--I'm just happy it was there, and was happy to pay for some additional fun in a universe I was enjoying.

At any rate, although it was not on the disc, the Borderlands team were done with the DLC well before launch of the actual game. This is also the case for virtually all other significant DLC that comes out within 6-8 months of a game's launch, and will be the case for Super SFIV costumes.

DLC costs money because it costs additional money to create. Those costs are the same, regardless of whether the created content gets delivered on a disc, or as a download. I can understand wanting as much as you can have for the lowest price (and SSFIV will give you a lot at a low price), and not wanting to pay for DLC at all, but I have never been able to understand the whole "on the disc" vs "downloaded" distinction.

IMO the SFIV DLC is the easiest kind, because it doesn't affect the core experience--it's literally eye-candy. You're of course free to come to whatever conclusion you want about buying DLC, but the whole "on the disc/not on the disc" question seems like a total red herring to me. Developers create DLC in parallel with core game development. It has its own budgets and schedules, and is often finished before the core game. It's there as an option for big fans of a given franchise, and your support helps them to create more products in that universe (which you presumably think is a pretty good thing overall)."
